EL NIDO, PALAWAN Travel Tips!

Clear waters, sporadic islands with ancient trees sprouting around it, and the limitless skies left me longing for more...I was in a stupor gazing at God's beautiful creation!

Pinagbuyutan Island

Trees make my heart smile :)

I can zone out and just watch the water splash all day.

EL NIDO TRAVEL TIPS:
  • El Nido is 5-6 hours away from Puerto Princesa.  There is a shuttle service from the Airport and it's best if you book ahead of time: Puerto Princesa - El Nido Shuttle Service
  • El Nido has no electricity from 6AM - 2PM!  I guess it kind of helps their tourism hahaha!  The guests of the island have no choice but to go on tours everyday!
  • Tour Essentials: Swimwear, Camera with zip lock bags, Cellphone Waterproof Pouch, Underwater Camera (an addition to my bucket list), a happy heart and tons of laughter to share with your friends and travel buds
  • TOURS:
    • Tour A - Lagoons and Beaches: Big Lagoon, Small Lagoon, Lunch at Payong Payong Beach, Shimizu Island, Commando Beach...we weren't allowed to visit the Secret Lagoon because of the weather

    • Tour C - Hidden Beaches and Shrines and Tour D - Island Beaches: Tours that I have to explore when I visit El Nido again...hmmm maybe two years from now? Next year's target is Coron, Palawan! :) woohoo!!!

    • The package that we got included lunch!  If you want crabs and shrimps just let your tour guides know a day ahead.
They cooked our lunch while we took photos and swam the beach to our heart's delight!

Our day 2 fruit centerpiece...it's an art alright!

  • Where to eat?  We braved the Hilltop for two nights!  "Braved"...because it's 99 steps up from the main road.  You'd definitely enjoy the Php250/ head dinner buffet after huffing and puffing on your way up!  The buffet includes their signature seafood pasta and pizza, 4 viands (seafood and pork), soup and never ending rice!  A bonus is the chance to sing on stage with their talented band who can sing "Love On Top" and Aegis' "Ulan" flawlessly!
99 steps more to go!

with our new found friends Rene and Kuya with the band on stage!
♪ ♫.chacharaaap! chacharaaap! 500 pesos! ♪ ♫.

  • Where to stay? We stayed at Marina Garden Beachfront Inn. It's near everything...the beach, restaurants, bars, sari-sari stores, tricycle station, St. Francis of Assisi Church, videoke place and spa!   The rate includes breakfast and coffee and the place has duyans and lounge chairs at the beachfront!  Masarap magmuni-muni sa ilalim ng mga bituin!

  • Pasalubong: You can't go back to Manila without visiting Baker's Hill Bakeshoppe!!!  It's located at Mitra Road, Sta.. Monica, Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.  The Chocolate Cupcake is TO-DIE-FOR!  This mouthwatering dessert is only Php25 each! ♪ ♫. Heaven!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  ♪ ♫  I don't have photos of it (the poor baby cakes disappeared in a few seconds hehehe) ...but you better believe the sweet tooth fairy...ummm that's me! hahahah!

  • Do you want to have Lunch before leaving Puerto Princesa? Fly back to Manila with a burpy smile!  Visit Heavenly Desserts by Dorothy and pack your tummies with Crispy Kare-Kare, Lechon Kawali with sweet bagoong paste, and cakes!!! cakes!!! and cakes!!!
The best things in life are pink and sweet!

  • Always travel wise and stay within your BUDGET!
    • Php12,000.00 - includes plane fare, shuttle service (Puerto Princesa - El Nido and back) hotel with breakfast for 3 days, tours for 2 days with lunch
    • Php3,000.00 - dinner, drinks, pasalubong, snacks, terminal fees, tricycle fare, lunch at Heavenly Desserts, taxi home
